Where I'm at now

How about we get into what I am doing now and what I've done so far in WOW?

My main as I said before is a protection paladin named Frostbeard. He has been level 80 for about 3 weeks now much to the chagrin of my wife who I left in the dust on her dwarven priest, she has since reached 80 and is very happy to be able to just run instances instead of the quest grind that she abhors.

Back to Frostbeard:
I knew I needed to reach the magical value of 540 defense to start raiding, following that my goal was to become "unhittable" with a combined miss, dodge, parry, block of 102.4% with holy shield active. This does not mean I will not take damage from a mob hitting me, only that any attack will be mitigated in some regard as long as holy shield is up. Now some of you who are more knowledgeable might say "that 102.4 won't cut it anymore, there's diminishing returns" to that I would respond "you are right!". What they would be talking about is the diminishing returns you get from your miss rating, many people on maintankadin.failsafedesign.com agree the diminishing return (DR) is there but not how much. So ideally, you shoot for a couple percent over the 102 figure to account for the miss DR.

So now I'm uncrittable and "unhittable" and striving for more stamina. One of my main goals is to replace my BC stamina trinket "Darkmoon Card: Vengeance" with the "Essence of Gossamer" from Heroic Azjol-Nerub.

I'm able to main-tank the bosses in Naxx 25, though I'm still getting used to my emergency buttons. Since I wasn't tanking in raids too much prior to WotLK I haven't been able to think in terms of emergencies with "Bubble-wall" or the paladin tank's awesome ability to soak raid damage occasionally with Divine Shield while not in a main tank role.

My first tentative steps

Well, after having read many many blogs by in game friends and acquaintances I have decided to see what I can do in this arena.

I had a hard time deciding what to call my excursion into writing, I have an idea I will be touching on many things regarding my plethora of characters in WOW.

My current "main" character is a protection paladin by the name of Frostbeard, I have played every flavor of "tank" in WOW and have found the paladin version to be the most enjoyable. I have played every other class up to level 70 except a rogue who has stalled at 46 named Laslo and a warlock at lvl 65 named Alber. I expect everyone except possibly the rogue to reach 80 in the current expansion.

The ironic part of this is that Laslo is the rogue this blog is named after, it is a character name I have held onto since I created the character in a roleplaying game about 20 years ago. He is always a rogue, always blond with a goatee and is heavily tanned. But alas in MMOs the rogue's style has not appealed to me.

I expect to discuss my thoughts, feelings, experiences with all of my WOW characters as they level up to 80.
